I'm African American with dry, fragile and sensitive hair/scalp. Of the handful of salons familiar with black hair in portland, most are mediocre at best. Since moving here from Pittsburgh a few years ago I've had a hard time finding a new stylist I can trust and actually help me take care of my hair and not just do it. Marie is very educated about hair care and how to tend to my hair's needs. She's helps me keep it moisturized with advised vitamins and scarves, and promotes healthy growth by great trims/cuts. She is professional and polite. While you'd be able to find significantly cheaper places nearby I truly believe you get what you pay for in terms of the salons here. Highly recommend this place.
